Ring Ring Road Cycling Tourisum
 The National Cycle Route was established in 2019 to promote cycle tourism in Japan. The Tsukuba Kasumigaura Ring-Ring Road was selected as one of the first designated routes. This route, which connecs 14 different cities, towns and villages across the prefecture, was created with the cooperation between each municipality. This national cycling route passed a lot of strict tests focusing on the safety and experience the cyclist will have from the beginning to the end of the route. Mount Tsukuba and Lake Kasumigaura, two of Ibaraki’s beautiful natural wonders, make this 180-km course a joy to ride. Nearby Mount Tsukuba and Lake Kasumigaura, there are many local attractions. You can enjoy the best part of Ibaraki during each season on a course best suited for you.

 The facility had its grand opening in March 2020, is one of the largest facilities in Japan dedicated to cycling, offering everything a cyclist might need, from advance preparations such as a change of clothes, to bicycle maintenance, a place to rest, meals, and accommodations. On the first floor and the basement level, there is the “Ring Ring Square Tsuchiura,” which serves as a base for cycling. First, you need to get dressed in the basement level, then assemble your bicycle at Le. Cyc’s on the first floor and pick up your bicycle that you reserved in advance through the Ring Ring Rental Bicycle Reservation System. Once you’re ready, it’s time to go to the Ring Ring Road.

 When you leave Tsuchiura City and enter Kasumigaura City, you should take a short walk off the Ring Ring Road and stop by this store, which reopened in August 2020 as the “Kuradashi Yakiimo Kaitsuka Kasumigaura Main Branch.”This store offers a new way to eat sweet potatoes that meets the needs of today. From the most popular cold baked potatoes to a variety of original sweets, ice cream and drinks, you can enjoy a variety of elegant flavors that bring out the natural sweetness and richness of the sweet potato.

 About 15 kilometers from Tsuchiura Station, is one of the bases on the Tsukuba-Kasumigaura Ring Ring Road, which is next to Lake Kasumigaura. There are four businesses; cycling program, restaurant, Marche, and general store, all of which contribute to the vitality of the area. The Kasumi Marche on the first floor is full of attractive products that make use of local fruits and agricultural products. The Kasumi Kitchen on the second floor serves dishes that use fresh ingredients such as whitebait and smelt that have just been caught in Lake Kasumigaura. The interior is decorated with furnishings obtained from a local school that closed, creating a rustic yet warm space.

 Kasumigaura Fureai Land, located about 4 km from the Kasumigaura Community Center, has a symbolic tower, known as Rainbow Tower, which offers a 360-degree panoramic view from a height of 60 meters above ground. During the period from the end of July to the beginning of December, you can see the maneuvering of the Kasumigaura Sightseeing Sail Boat which was selected as a national intangible folk cultural property.This beautiful sailboat, which has become a feature of Lake Kasumigaura was operated by a small number of fishermen until the 1960’s Today, it has been restored as a tourist boat.
