Aquaworld Ibaraki Prefectural Aquarium (Oarai Town)
This world-class aquarium is home to over 580 species of marine life including penguins, dolphins, sharks, sunfish and sea lions. In fact, Aquaworld houses the greatest number of species of shark in Japan, and is renowned for its successful shark breeding programme.
The dolphin and sea lion shows are the biggest draw for many visitors to the aquarium, but don’t forget to make time for the penguin feeding time or watch the shark tank being cleaned!
Which so much to see, it’s easy to spend a whole day at the aquarium so there’s plenty of food and drink options available inside to keep you going while you explore.
