Mito Komon Festival & Fireworks (Mito City)
Mito Komon Festival
This festival has been held every year since it was first established in 1961 and is the highlight of the Summer calendar in Mito. During the festival, Mito’s main streets are closed to cars to make room for parades of dancers, festival floats, portable shrines and local community organisations. The whole city switches into carnival mode and there are loads of street food stalls, outdoor bars and fairground games.
Lake Senba Fireworks Display
More than 4000 fireworks are set off in the skies above Lake Senba during this fireworks display. The fireworks are reflected in the waters of Lake Senba, making for a spectacular show. Furthermore, as the fireworks are let off above the lake, everyone gets a good view.
Get there early to claim a good spot and make sure to leave time to sample the many food stalls!
