Natto Museum (Omitama City)

Natto – fermented soy beans – originates in Ibaraki and is eaten throughout Japan, often at breakfast time. This fermented product is known for its distinctive pungent smell and has recently made headlines overseas for its health properties.

The Natto Museum is attached to the Takano Foods factory, a famous natto manufacturer. Visitors can learn about the history of natto and famous episodes from the history of natto consumption in Japan, and discover other fermented soy bean products from around the world.
