Ryujin Suspension Bridge (Hitachiota City)
Ryujin Suspension Bridge stands 100m above the surface of the Ryujin reservoir lake. The bridge is 375m long and is inspired by legends of a dragon said to live in the Ryujin River. The bridge offers panoramic views of the area’s mountainous landscape including the wild cherry blossoms which dot the mountainsides during the Spring and dramatic Autumn foliage.
The bridge is also home to Japan’s second highest bungy jump! If you’re up to the challenge this bungy jump is the ultimate way to take in the surrounding mountains in 360 degrees.
If throwing yourself off bridges isn’t your thing, there’s plenty more to explore in the surrounding area as well, including hiking trails, hot springs and restaurants serving the region’s speciality, soba noodles!
