Ushiku Daibutsu Buddha Statue (Ushiku City)
This giant statues towers dramatically above the Ibaraki countryside. At 120m tall it’s hold the Guinness world Record for being the world’s tallest standing bronze statue.
Visitors can go inside the Buddha and take the lift to an observation platform which offers stunning views out over the Kanto Plains. The statue also contains a Buddhist Temple, Buddhist memorial and an area for practicing Buddhist calligraphy.
During the Spring the grounds around the statue are filled with stunning pink cherry blossom trees and moss phlox (a type of creeping blossom which covers the ground), making for a particularly stunning spectacle.
